The FPS genre *yawn*

What happened to Mayhem...

Ever since the success of Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare, the FPS genre has been very stale. By this I mean a lot of FPS games have changed to a loadout system, even Halo : Reach did this in a way, you can still pick up weapons but not like its prequels. With bringing in a loadout system you take a lot of mayhem from the game. What happened to the days when people spawn holding down the forward button rushing for the "Power" weapons?

Hopefully in this generation of consoles we will see the return of Time Splitters(which we will) or even a James Bond: Nightfire remake! Those games had everything, they`re middle name was mayhem. (and what a cool middle name that is!)

Time Splitters: Future Perfect had possibly the funniest FPS multiplayer ever, nothing beat a bricks only game! I bought a multi-tap(years before Time Splitters) (My best purchase ever for the PS2.) so I could have friends down and not have to take turns against the AI, this only made it better, the screaming coming from my room as the final minute of the game drew to a close, with everyone`s scores so close,  I`m surprised the neighbors never complained!

On the other hand James Bond: Nightfire had the same effect, except instead of screaming it was silence, until the very end when the game finished when there was a huge breath by everyone to make up for the lack of breathing during the game. The silence doesn`t mean there wasn`t mayhem do. The game was the definition of the word! The rush at start for the crossbow, was immense the lengths people would go to, even smacking controllers out of other players hands!

What happened to those days? The days where FPS made you hold your breath to steady the controller to get your aim right on spot?

I WANT a return of NightFire, the best FPS on the PS2!
